POSITION TITLE: Youth Program Manger

DEPARTMENT: HHS -- Youth

REPORTS TO: Human Services Director

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY GRADE: $48.83 - $58.60 per hour

Position Summary:

Accomplishes the Youth Services program objectives by planning, organizing, and managing all functions required to operate and maintain program activities and services. Ensures that program services are provided effectively and efficiently to youth of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. Honors and represents the mission, vision, values of Cowlitz Indian Tribe, Health and Human Services, and Youth program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Knowledge of traditional form of government and tribal customs and traditions.

Knowledge of youth programs and community resources for families.

· Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.

· Knowledge of primary and secondary prevention strategies for youth.

· Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.

· Skill in budget preparation and administration.

· Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs.

· Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff.

· Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.

· Ability to create and present effective speeches and presentations.

· Ability to follow processes to create new Youth Program policies and procedures where appropriate.

· Ability to exercise independent judgement.

· Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

· Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.

· Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Tribal preference in accordance with Cowlitz Indian Tribe Code and CIT Employee Policies and Procedures Handbook shall apply to all positions. All positions are required to adhere to CIT’s established safety policies regarding vaccine requirements and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office or outdoor setting. Exposure to moderate noise when working at youth camps and gatherings. Exposure to natural weather conditions and dust, fumes, airborne particles and/or allergens may occur while performing outdoor duties. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common. Overnight travel, evening and/or weekend work is occasionally required.
